Scouting News from Gordon Park
Matopos, Matabeleland, Zimbabwe

All was quiet on the western front

Nothing to report on this weekend. I had a group of tourists to entertain in the Matopos on the Saturday morning and only got to Gordon Park at about four o'clock that afternoon. As no Scouts had accompanied me, I had a walk around the Park before preparing supper and then retiring early for the night.

Early on Sunday morning I prepared a picnic basket and headed off to the eastern Matopos to join the Matopos Conservation Society's outing along the Tuli river. The venue was a small dam on the Botswana river. From here we wandered down steam for about two kilometres as the river dropped down to the Tuli river. Some spectacular waterfalls and rapids.

I returned to the Park at about half past three on Sunday afternoon. The only work I did at the Park was some trimming of trees along the main entrance from the gate to headquarters. Not very exciting work, but necessary. So, although, all was quiet on the western front, I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the eastern Matopos. Quite a different weekend.

Temperatures for the week ending 22 March, 2009: 58 and 81. Rainfall for the week:0.51 inches.
Cheers
