Warm and generous hospitality

Greetings from the Heart of Scouting

"You have got a virus."
"Huh!"
"A bug, which I will have to srt out".
"A bug! Are you going to tell me to take a dose of insecticide. You are mad?"
"Sir, your laptop has been infected with a bug, not you." ( I think you are mad") Said with a polite smile.
"Jumping Jupiter, what are you talking about. How in the dickens can a machine get a bug?"
(Oh boy, is this fellow for real.) "To put it simply, leave your laptop with me for a few days and I will clear up the problem so that you can use it, without all the glitches that you have experienced of late." (Now clear out of here before I call somebody from Ingutsheni Mental Hospital).
"Thanks, I will come back next week."

Now, back to last week, as I was unable to write to you owing to my laptop having acquired a "bug" whilst keeping you all informed of the goings on during our Centenary Camp in The Heart of Scouting.

Saturday was a little different from the norm. Well, a whole lot different, and for this I must thank a certain Martin Shearfield, who telephoned me on the Thursday, inviting me a my merry men to participate in a visit to Mr. Rosenfels' farm in the Marula district , where we would be treated to a wagon expedition on his farm. So, early on Saturday morning, having made arrangements at the Friday night's Troop meeting as to who could come along, five of us adventurous Scouts, along with Mr. Rob Burrett headed for Mr. Rosenfels' farm.

On our arrival we were introduced to Mr. and Mrs. Rosenfels who very kindly took control of us for the remainder of the day. As an article of our fantastic experience will be reported upon in "Pioneer Trail", out shortly, all I will say now, is that we had a great day, made even more memorable by the warm and generous hospitality of the Rosenfels.

Saturday evening saw Chris, Mike and myself at Gordon Park, where no sooner had we had our supper, than we fell exhausted into our beds.

Sunday morning dawned bright and cheerful, so after lighting the cooking fire we headed up Shumba to look over our domain, the majestic Matobo Hills. Our days chores were confined to the continuation of checking and where necessary, repairing equipment that had been used on the Centenary Camp, before packing it away. Not very exciting work, but very necessary in the maintenance of a campsite, such as Gordon Park.

Temperatures for the week ending
16 August: 42 F or 6 C and 80 F or 27 C
23 August: 28 F or -2 C and 80 F or 27 C

Cheers
Norman
