Further, the grass and trees are cut from around the all the buildings so as to prevent the buildings from being damaged. The timbers on which the HQ pump are mounted caught alight from the intense heat generated by the reeds and grass burning which were four metres from the pump. The men's ablution door faces onto the camping ground which had been cut. It was an extremely hot fire as the Park had not been burnt for eight or nine years and there was no wind at the time only that generated by the fire its self.
