"I have attached some photos of GP (taken in 2000), the well sinking and also the Christening of my daughter Stacey out a GP. A bit of other history for you is that Dad blasted the rocky outcrop from the camping area going to the Bowl and also did all the plumbing for the old showers etc. Both Dad and Moms ashes are scattered at the Chapel.
30/9/03 - Again another, Sue (my sister) has found a picture that belonged to my Dad of Baden Powell on horse back in the Matopos. When her computer is working she is going to scan it and e-mail it to me. With reference to the Boars Head, Dad originally chose it from the top of a spirit bottle and then modified it. The Dinner service at GP was originally painted on by my Mom (Ruth).
Heres a couple of snippets of info. I don't know if you already know but here they are anyway.
1. Gillwell scarf is worn by the scouts who have completed the Woodbadge scarf. The scarf is the Grey Mclaren tartan.
2. Mclaren bought the Gillwell House outside London and gave it to the scouts.
3. G.P. was named after Colonel Gordon D.S.O.O.B.E. (Headquarter Commissioner for Matabeleland)
As I get more info I will pass it on to you. Keep it going.
Rob Talbot"
