Thirty five kilometers south of the City of Bulawayo are the Matopos Hills, an area of rugged granite kopjies (hills) in which Baden-Powell developed his own Scouting skills, which later resulted in Scouting For Boys. Today, nestling in these kopjies is one of the most rugged of scout camping grounds in the world - Gordon Park. Sheltered by huge granite kopjies, shaded by numerous

varieties of stately indigenous trees and populated by animals such as the leopard, sable antelope and black eagle, scouting takes on the most adventurous backwoods atmosphere that any scout could ever wish for. To encourage and foster the true scouting spirit and the love of the outdoors is the Gordon Park Crew whose dedicated members train the younger scouts the way Baden-Powell envisaged the scouting game to be played.
