1 PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS

a) Mr Carlisle outlined the theme of his plans for the final wide game which is being based on an enemy incursion into Rhodesia with the purpose of destroying vital communication links. After discussing the game, it was agreed that the Rev Bird will contact Sergent-Major J.Winch with a view to arranging a meeting between Sergent-Major Winch and Messrs. Carlisle, Fyfe and Caw to formulate story of the wide game. It is agreed that this meeting will be held in January.

b) Hike Routes.
It is agreed to approach Skipper Knapman to plan the hike routes. The hike groups to consist of a maximum of twelve scouts including the Tutor/Instructor. At present it is expected that instructors will be as following:-
A.Murphy, N.Scott, C.Tipping-woods, V.Pardoe (still to be approached), two senior scouts from the 8th Bulawayo.
Skipper Knapman will be asked to advise at an early stage of the maps required.

c) It is noted that Mr Allen Savory M.P. has indicated a willingness to assist with EXPAT, as has John Stakesby-Lewis and his fiancee. George Gibson will be unable to assist as he will be overseas.

2) TRANSPORT

There was no further report on the transport situation but Mr Felgate is requested to persue the possibility of half and one ton vehicles.

3.NEWSPAPER

Mr Carlisle reporting on behalf of Norman Scott, advised that no further information has been received from the Chronicle but that two people had offered their services as reporters.

4. CATERING AND FOOD.

a)Mr Cunningham offered to accept the post of Quartermaster. His offer was greatfully accepted. Mr George and Mr Murphy are to be approached with the view to assisting Mr Cunningham.

b) Mr Anderson reported that he had discussed EXPAT with the Bulawayo J.C.'s and had suggested financial assistance of up to $500. The J.C.'s are interested in the exercise and Mr Anderson is still to discuss the event with Round Table.

Mr Caw reported donations towards EXPAT from Risco ($200), C.A.B.S. ($25), and Rhodesian Brewers ($10).

5.EQUIPMENT

It was decided that it might be impracticable for scouts out-side of Bulawayo to bring tentage with them and in this respect Mr Cunningham is to approach the canvass companies, Righfield Bag and to discuss the bucksail situation at Gordon Park with Mr George.

6. PUBLIC RELATIONS AND FUND RAISING

It was decided that it would not be possible to mount the 1973 expedition to South West Africa in view of Political and transport difficulties. It was therfore decided that the expedition would be to the Nuanetsi district of Rhodesia to unravel the White City Ledgend. Mr Fyfe has been in contact with Mr Roger Howman, who has provided interesting information on the area. Mr Fyfe will continue to investigate this expedition and to report further to the committee.

7. GENERAL

All committee members are asked to consider carefully the tentative program for Expat before the next meeting which will be held in January.
