THE BOY SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF RHODESIA
PROVINCE OF MATABELELAND

EXPAT '72
Notes of a meeting of Scouters held at 8.00pm on Monday 10th April 1972.

Present:-
D.Bird
Mr N. Scott
Mr H. Felgate
Mrs F. Fulton
Mr E. Fulton

Apologies:-
Mr D. Fyfe, Mr J. Carlisle, Mr D. Anderson, D.Cunningham, C. Wilcox

1. PARTICIPATION.

a) Noted that further posters are being prepared for distribution throughout Rhodesia.

b) Mr Fyfe to be requested to write to the P.C.'s stressing necessity of maintaining age limits.

c) Mr Scott exhibited a poster he made to advertise Expat '72. Agreed the poster be placed in the Scout Shop and at Trade Fair during that event.

d) Participants for the 1973 Expedition will be chosen during Expat and name announcements made at dinner.

2. SCARVES

a) Noted that Mr Anderson has been successful in obtaining EXPAT badges.
b) A Toptex material (colour T.253, beige) was chosen for the scarves. Agreed that these should not be made until after 30th June when it will be known if Expat will take place.

3. AFTER DINNER SPEAKER

Dr Child has been invited to be the speaker. No reply has yet been received.

4.ASSEMBLY POINT

Mr Anderson is still to approach the B.S.A.P. re the Drill Hall.

5. PROGRAMME

The remainder of the program was considered and duties allocated.

a)All committee members are now required to go through the program and to prepare the material for their sessions. This includes QM duties, transport facilities, menus etc.

b) D.Bird to approach J.Winch re his availaibility and advise Mr G.Caw.

c) Consideration was given to individual mark sheets. It was felt that these may not be practical if there is a large number of participants and it is agreed that staff members will make assessments of the scouts for discussion, at staff meetings.

d) Agreed that hosts of visiting scouts be asked to arrange the entertainment of their guests on12th Septemeber. This will enable the staff to get borrowed vehicles etc into clean condition for return to owners.

6 NEXT MEETING to be held in June with date to be advised.
