Ack: The Scouter - April 1962
Calling All Scouters
5. A rope Tensioning Gadget
Is your troop debarred from a whole range of interesting pioneering activities due to the high cost of blocks? If so, here is a much less expensive tentioning tackel which, whilst it cannot be claimed an equivalent substitute for blocks will, nevertheless, nable you to do a number of projects requiring means of tentioning beyond that hich is possible from a straight pull.
It was developed by a member of the Gordon Park Training Camp staff in Southern Rhodesia and has been named the "Gibson Tackle".
The accompanying sketch should make the arrangement clear enough for purposes of frabrication and use:-
J. Knapman
Asst. Chief Commissioner (Training) Southern Rhodesia.
