1978-09-12 Richard Millar receives Sable Award Eighteen year old Richard Millar has won the Sable Award - the highest Scouting award. Richard, pictured above with his award, is the second member of the 11th Riverside Scout Troop to receive the award this year. Hylton Garriock, a pupil of Gifford High School, won the award last month. The boys had to pass tests in leadership, emergency, service, chievement, expedition and community service before receiveing the award. Richard joined Cubs when he was eight and graduated to Scouts when he was 11. He was a pupil at Hamilton High School where e recently wrote his A-Level exams. Ack:- The Bulawayo Chronicle Newspaper |
