1978-10-20 300 Scouts for Camp About 300 Bulawayo scouts are expected to go camping at Christian Brothers College at the weekend during the 21st Jamboree on the Air, the Provincial Commissioner of Matabeleland Boy Scouts, Mr C. Wilcox said yesterday. The event starts today and will run until Monday. The Scouts, with other scouts from all over the world, will tune in for 48hours of listening during the Jamboree on the Air on Saturday and Sunday. Rhodesian Scouts hope to contact other JOTA stations throughout the world. It is expected that 15 million Scouts will be listening in during the jamboree, which is an annual event. Mr Surrey Wells, Public Relations Officer for the Boy Scouts Association of Rhodesia, said that last year 15 countries, including Japan, Britain and the United States were contacted, and non-jamboree stations were contacted in 26 countries. "Stations have been set up in nine towns, including Bulawayo, Kariba, Salisbury and Fort Victoria, and will be operated by members of the Radio Society of Rhodesia on behalf of the Association" Mr Wells said.
