1979-08-11Scouts Home
Sixty three travel weary Boy Scouts and nine Scout leaders from Zimbabwe-Rhodesia were given a jubilant welcome home at Salisbury airport on Thursday night. The Churchill School pipe band and about 250 other Scouts, commissioners, relatives and friends met the boys who had been to an international Jamboree gathering at the Kandersteg International Scout Chalet in the South of Switzerland. On the way they spent a week each in Greece and Israel. A total of 3500 boys attended the 10 day camp which is held every four years in a different country. Representatives from 31 countries were present. After the camp they were put up in Swiss homes. This year the Jamboree was to have been held in Iran in one large camp, but the venue was changed three times because of the revolution.
